The EchoLab at Virginia Tech is inviting you to participate in a research study with animated gifs. Our team is investigating the roles and benefits of animated gif in online communication, and this study obtain deeper insights about how users express their identity (race and gender) through their use of animated gifs in the online public disclosure context.
The study will be conducted fully online. Participants will be asked to complete a series of simulated tweets writing tasks. In each task, participants will be given a context and asked to write a tweet about it and choose an animated gif. Participants will be asked for their feedback for each animated gifs they choose. There will be 15 tasks and is estimated to take 30 mins.
Participants need to be at least 18 years old , speaking English as first language and have tweeting frequency of at least 20 times over the past 12 month. Upon completion, participants will be awarded with $4.75.
